OnceUponABot

OnceUponABot is an AI storytelling platform for creating personalized children’s stories. Users provide a story idea, characters, setting, or other creative direction, and the service generates an illustrated story that can be read, edited, narrated, exported, and shared. The official site says users can upload photos to feature themselves or a chosen character, adjust the reading level for an age range, and create stories in any language with automatic translation. The current service is a focused storybook creator rather than a general chat assistant. Because it can process children’s names, photos, and story content, families and educators should review the service’s privacy terms and supervise age-appropriate use.

✨ Key Features

• Prompt-based story creation — Turn a story idea into an original children’s story with AI.
• Personalized characters — Add character names, descriptions, and creative details to shape the story.
• Photo-based protagonists — Upload photos so the generated story can feature the user or another selected character, subject to the service’s terms and consent requirements.
• Illustrated storybooks — Generate images alongside story text to create a visual reading experience.
• Reading-level adjustment — Set a preferred age range or reading level so the language can adapt as a child develops.
• Multilingual stories — Create stories in different languages and use the service’s automatic translation workflow.
• Narrated read-aloud mode — Listen to stories with a narrator voice and use the “Read to me” experience.
• Chapter stories and editing — Create longer chapter-based stories on supporter plans, then edit generated text and redraw images before sharing.
• PDF export — Export completed stories as PDF on the supporter plans.
• Sharing, genres, and discovery — Share stories through links, choose available genres such as fantasy, adventure, mystery, and bedtime, and browse recent public creations through Explore; avoid exposing private or identifying information.
• Commercial licensing option — The pricing page lists a plan with a commercial license to sell stories created with the service.

💳 Pricing

• Trial and plans — The homepage invites users to try story creation for free without stating a permanent quota. Monthly is $9.99 with unlimited stories, narration, chapter stories, supporter-only genres, and feature previews; Annual is $6.67/month billed annually. Commercial License is listed at $19/month (also displayed as $29/month or $19/month annually) with rights to sell created stories; Commercial is $50/month with dedicated support, infrastructure, analytics, marketing automations, and custom integrations.

The service is described as an early-supporter program and pricing can change as features are released. Confirm taxes, cancellation, fair-use limits behind “unlimited,” commercial-license scope, image/voice rights, and whether uploaded photos or user-submitted material are covered before purchase. A commercial plan does not automatically grant rights to third-party likenesses, trademarks, music, or source materials used in a story.

AI-generated stories and images may contain factual, developmental, cultural, or age-appropriateness problems. Adults should review content before giving it to children, avoid entering sensitive personal information, and check sharing settings. The service’s “commercial license” should not be interpreted as clearance for a child’s likeness or third-party copyrighted material.
